this is it. the first post. the beginning. the genesis. and you are all here for it my friends. so let's get down to the brass tacks, shall we?
THE ABOUT ME SECTION THAT NOBODY REALLY CARES ABOUT
my name is Matt. i was born, raised and reside in Oklahoma and quite possibly will die here. i guess I'm just a good 'ole southern boy who has spent more time watching movies or daydreaming or writing than baling hay or tilling the land or sleeping under the stars (although with right girl, i never turn down the opportunity of a good campfire snuggle). i have a degree in Film and Video Studies from the University of Oklahoma, but have failed to use it in anyway that would bring me great profit and have settled for going back to school to get a second degree in hopes that I can get a job that will pay me enough that I can live the dream on the side. ahh...compromises. i have worked on 2 full length feature films, a commercial and several short films. my resume in the field was, at a time, building considerably, but then the Oklahoma job market became even more scarce than it was and i found myself wondering, 'whats next?' so, like many others questioning their posistion in life, i came back to school.
THE 'WHAT THE HELL IS THIS BLOG ABOUT' SECTION
this 'blog' (and since i am from Oklahoma, i say it more like blawg) will be about movies or tv or stupid celeb info. or me. that is to say that since this my blog, i will write about whatever strikes my fancy and if you are a reader, you may have to put up with ten self deprecating entries before you get to that 1 brilliant, amazingly written, Pulitzer worthy entry. mostly though, this will be a blog much in the style of a movie review site. the content should mainly focus on movies and my love for them. Hopefully, it won't read like an essay where i strictly talk about the aesthetics of moviemaking or sybolism or blah blah blah... i will tell you why i liked it, hated it, have watched it a thousand times, wish everyone involved burns in hell for a long, long time, etc. that is to say, i will try my damnest to keep it simple. that is not to say that from time to time there won't be a movie come along that requires further discussion. i mean, how can you write the same things about 'Citizen Kane' and 'Zoolander?' short answer: you can't.
so, to sum up, the material will spring forth from whatever thought happens to be stuck in my mind but will have something to do with film or tv. they may be new releases, old favorites, old releases, but new to me, and on and on... and suggestions are welcome! please be an active reader. give me feedback, tell me you hate me, tell me you love me, tell me what you look like and if you are single... i don't care. just be active on the discussions.
THE SYLE AND DISCLAIMER SECTION
i write in lower case most of the time, use marginal grammar and have very medicocre spelling skills (believe me on this one, i have dictionary.com open in another tab just in case, but even with the help of dictionary.com, words do have a tendency to slip by me). i try hard to write professionally, but sometimes get carried away when I am ranting, so i will take this time to apologize for the future curse words that I may use when trying to express how angry i am at discovering my favorite director just signed on to make 'Battlefied Earth 2.' i will try to keep it PG-13 at most, but i really do apologize for the times that we skip past the R and go right on into NC-17.
so, enough about me and my blawg, let's talk movies!
