It's All So... Pretentious

Football is here and I'm afraid that means some of the time that I would normally use for updates is going to be cut short. Fantasy Football is really a vice and addiction of mine and, well, I'm really not strong enough to live without it. Plus I will be spending many Saturdays in Norman, OK watching my Sooners decimate other teams. I'm really a simple man and I just need my football. Just be understanding and don't argue.
I did, however, take the time Friday night to go see 'Traitor.'
And there isn't much I wanna talk about with this one.
Good cast, interesting story, stupid movie.
The message was muddled. The delivery wasn't clear. The questions it raised were questions it had no interests in answering.
Don Cheadle was good, as he usually is. Guy Pearce is somebody that has been on the verge of superstardom for years, but projects like 'The Time Machine' set him back. He is good in this movie, but really isn't given much to do. Jeff Daniels is so underused, I'm really not sure what he's doing in this movie. The supporting cast is solid, but so what. The movie was boring.
I don't really know what was wrong with the movie, except that here it is only 4 days after seeing it, and I can't really remember anything memorable. It was just bland. Something didn't come together right and if it had interested me a little more, I would probably try to figure out what wasn't there. But it wasn't, so I won't. Take that.
On a positive not, I am hooked on the HBO seriers 'Six Feet Under.'
I know, I know. I'm a few years behind. But at the time it was on, I was a poor college kid with no money for 'HBO.' That money was reserved for binge drinking and late night Taco Bell. Now, I am a poor college grad with a blockbuster card. Oh how life sneaks up on us...
I will probably write more in-depth on 'Six Feet Under' at some point, but I am only at the beginning of the second season and would like to have a more solid view on the series as a whole before I commit anything to the everlasting net.
I will say that I do remember watching award shows back in the day and seeing this show win award after award and hearing the theme song played every time the cast and crew would make the long walk to the stage and HATING that theme song. Pretentious HBO shows and their pretentious HBO theme music. I thought, 'HBO is just so...pretentious...'
Who knew they were (and still are) making the best stuff on TV. Well, I guess back then it was everybody but me. But I get it now. I see the funny and tragic side to death. I understand that my life is going to end and that one day I will in fact be six feet under and I guess I can now see how important and precious life it. We should be laughing more at ourselves and living life to the fullest.
And now I have a blog to share with the whole world and I think that people may in fact really want to read what I write. I mean, how much more pretentious can you get. I have finally made it to adult life.
